Gamescom 2015 ups exhibition space by 10%

This year’s Gamescom will offer more room than ever for exhibitors.

The event, which kicks off on August 5th in Cologne, has expanded to include Hall 5, adding an extra ten per cent (16,000 square metres) to its exhibition space.

As a result the business area will be seven per cent larger while the entertainment area will be boosted by 12,000 square metres. There will also for the first time be a dedicated family-friendly area for visitors.

"Gamescom is a success story,” Koelnmesse COO Katharina Hamma said. Since its was first held in Cologne, it has recorded positive growth with exhibitors and visitors and in terms of internationality.

After seven years of Gamescom in Cologne, the additional expansion of its exhibition space is the practical response to its enduring popularity and the logical consequence in view of its potential."

Last year’s event was attended by 335k visitors, up six per cent on the previous year.

Confirmed exhibitors for Gamescom 2015 include Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Bigpoint, CI Games, Cloud Imperium Games, Crytek, Deep Silver (Koch Media), EA, Konami, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nvidia, Oculus, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Wargaming and Warner Bros.
