North American gamers can pre-order the Halo: Reach DLC from GameStop, and get some free extras to boot.

The US giant claims it is the first firm to do a pre-order campaign for downloadable content, and forms part of the companys drive into digital markets.

Players who pre-order the upcoming Halo: Reach Noble Pack from US GameStop locations will receive a code to unlock the Mark V Spartan Flaming Helemt avatar.

"Halo fans and gamers are looking forward to accessing hours of new gameplay and extending the Halo Reach experience," said GameStop president Tony Bartel.

"We are excited to provide our customers with easy access to great, new digital content, and at a $10 price point, we believe it’s a great value."

GameStop recently posted record sales for the three months ending October 30th.
