Gaming bar calls for publisher support

Loading – a specialist gaming caf and bar – wants to hold special events for games publishers.

The independent outlet has already secured support from EA, which has supplied promotional software.

But the company now says it can run events in support of upcoming games, to help publishers reach consumers in the South West.

I’ve been trying to get in touch with all of the publishers with mixed success,” said the firm’s boss James Dance.

Most recently, EA has been the first company to lend us support and send a few promotional copies for people to sample.

The South West is an area that is rarely covered by any games companies. Because of the travel involved we’re looking at holding events for publishers without them having to send down dedicated staff.”

Loading is based in Falmouth, Cornwall. It features a variety of games to play and even sells gaming-inspired cocktails, such as BioShock Blitzer, Ocarina of Lime and Earthworm Gin.

Since bringing in the gaming-themed drinks menu, we’re a lot busier,” said Dance.

Our aim is to keep building and increase our presence at larger events. We also want to work with people like Gamecity and help promote the UK games industry.”
