Gearbox: Borderlands 2 on PS Vita a possibility

Gearbox Software’s Randy Pitchford has hinted at the possibility of the studio’s upcoming RPG shooter Borderlands 2 making it on to the Playstation Vita.

Speaking to PSU, Pitchford, however, said that any port to the handheld would have to be handled by a third party, adding that three companies had approach Gearbox to handle the porting process.

Another stumbling block is getting the go-ahead and development support from Sony, which Pitchford said has so far been unforthcoming.

The Gearbox CEO also said that he would have loved to have seen his game showcased on the Vita at Sony’s E3 press conference, hinting that the idea of a Vita version of Borderlands 2 has been around for a while.

Borderlands 2 is scheduled for release on September 21, 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3, PC.
