Gears of War sells 2 million

Not content with simply

wowing the critics

and storming straight to

the top of the UK charts

, Microsoft has announced that Epic’s Gears of War 2 sold a substantial two million copies worldwide over its opening weekend.

In addition, 1.5 million gamers logged onto Xbox Live and have subsequently racked up 15 million hours worth of gameplay and unlocked 19 million Achievements.

The release also lead to a record number of players logged in to Microsoft’s network at one time.
