GeForce GTX 780 tipped for May 23rd launch

Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 780 PC graphics card looks set to be launched next week.

As has been widely reported, the GTX 780 is understood to be based on the same architecture powering Nvidia’s flagship Titan GPU, although its performance is unlikely to drastically outdo its predecessor the GTX 680.

Fudzilla claims to have word from multiple sources” that the card will be released next Thursday (May 23rd). That of course if for Nvidia’s reference version. Third party alternatives will likely follow within weeks.

Previous reports have suggested it will carry an RRP of between 400-500. Other cards in the GTX 700 series are sure to follow shortly behind.

For those unfamiliar with Nvidia’s graphics card offerings, they have in recent times followed a set pattern starting with the X50 cards and then progressing through X60 and X70 (as well as some beefed up additions, such as the recent GTX 660Ti) before finally reaching the high-end X80 cards.

This is then typically followed at a later date by the X90 release, which fuses two X80 cards together. Third parties will often produce these before official versions are available.
