God of War 3 for E3?

Though

we know the game is in production

, there’s to date been no word on when we might expect God of War 3 to be revealed – but online rumours are now pointing to a debut airing for the title at next month’s E3 show.

CVG reports that a number of French sites are claiming that a Sony rep let slip at GDC that the game is set to debut at E3, adding though that it’s unlikely to be playable.

However, Sony has told MCV that the stories are just ‘rumour and speculation’ – not an outright denial, but then it would be daft to expect that.

The first God of War was released on PS2 in 2005 and was a critical smash. It performed well in the US, though less so in Europe. However, come the arrival of God of War II last year the series had found its footing in Europe and performed well.

A PSP version, entitled God of War: Chains of Olympus, was released earlier this year and is still a feature in the PSP charts.
