GT5s launch week betters GT4

Having slipstreamed the opposition and claimed first place in this week’s UKIE GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40, Gran Turismo 5 has also bettered the performance of its predecessor.

Week one sales of the new racer were six per cent up compared to the week one performance of PS2 outing Gran Turismo 4, which was released in March 2005.

The game has also claimed the sixth largest launch week on PS3, though don’t bet against it going on to becoming the best selling platform exclusive title on the console.

Interestingly, while Call of Duty: Black Ops is able to hold on to second spot in both the All Formats Top 40 and PS3 charts, it’s a different story on Xbox 360, where Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood has wrestled Black Ops off the top.
