Havok has launched a new pricing model

Havok has launched a new pricing model for game developers, with the aim of making their middleware software suite more accessible to a broader range of studios.

Havok’s middleware software suite has been around in some form or another for more than 20 years, and is used in some of the biggest titles on console, PC and mobile devices from around the world, typically in some of the biggest (and highest budget) AAA titles.

Under the firm’s new pricing model, studios can license the middleware for a fee of $50,000 per-title, meaning that those in the AA space (or even independent AAA space) should be able to take more advantage of the technology. The licensing model is also straightforward, with no royalty payment agreements required.

This new lower price point is available for any game title with a budget as high as $20 Million USD. Games with a budget higher than that will receive a price (and any other royalty stipulations required for usage) upon their application for a Havok license.

Studios that do pay the new, lower middleware license fee can also take full advantage of the Unreal Engine plug-in versions of Havok Physics and Havok Navigation.

If you’d like to find out more information, or get in touch with Havok to try their technology out, you should contact them through their web form.
