Henderson joins Messi on FIFA 16 cover

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will feature on the cover of EA’s FIFA 16 in the UK.

He will be joined by Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, who will grace the cover in all regions alongside a representative more likely to appeal to fans in each territory.

Henderson was perhaps a surprise choice from a fan vote, beating Man City’s Sergio Agero, young England Spurs striker Harry Kane and Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois in the process.

Previous UK players to feature alongside Messi include Eden Hazard (FIFA 15), Gareth Bale (FIFA 14) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Hart (FIFA 13). Wayne Rooney was the star for many years beforehand and was joined by the likes of Ronaldinho, Theo Walcott, Kaka, Frank Lampard and Jack Wilshere.

FIFA 16 will be released on September 26th.
