ILM unveils Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine VR experiment

Let’s face it – if anything is going to sell virtual reality, it’s the chance to prance about with a lightsabre.

Industrial Light & Magic and LucasArts have apparently inadvertently unveiled an experimental VR title called Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine. A trailer briefly appeared on the ILM website before being yanked, but you can see it below until it is presumably dragged offline.

All sorts of Star Wars iconography can be found, including the Millennium Falcon, Stormtroopers and trilogy hero R2-D2. In fact, it’s R2 who steps up and offers the player a lightsabre, leading to a flurry of deflected laser fire.

The ‘experiment’ moniker means we can’t be certain that the game will be released, although it would seem insane not to develop a title along these lines.
