Internationally-developed Dhoom 3 console game in the works

Yash Raj Films is investing $2 million in a console game based on upcoming film Dhoom 3, which will be developed by an international studio.

Our attempt is to establish Dhoom as a brand like Spiderman," YRF’s VP of licensing and merchandising Rohit Sobti told Medianama, adding that the company is close to signing up with a publisher for the game’s release.

Sobti, however, gave no details about the game itself or about the international developer entrusted with the project.

YRF is hoping to target a global audience with the Dhoom 3 game, and while no specific platforms have been revealed, Sobti did tell Medianama that he was monitoring the launch plans for the Xbox One and PS4 – wishful thinking with a budget of $2 million.

There is a Dhoom 3 mobile game as well, as has become the norm around major Bollywood film releases nowadays.

Unlike the console game, which sounds a lot like vaporware so far, the 99Games-developed free-to-play is out already for Windows Phone and releases later this month for iOS and Android.
