Jagex is now accepting Bitcoin

Online games company Jagex is now accepting payment with cryptocurrency Bitcoin.

The firm is partnering up with online payment services BitPay and Ayden to allow customers to pay with Bitcoin.

RuneScape fans will be able to purchase both memberships and microstransactions with the digital currency.

Jagex is the latest company in the games space to start accepting Bitcoin. Retailers CEX and Green Man Gaming, and publishersMicrosoftand Big Fish all started allowing payment using the cryptocurrency last year.

Gamers are smart. We know they get tech, and we know that for them the cryptocurrency protocol is cool and here to stay. By allowing our players to pay however they want, we remove any obstacles between them and having fun,” said Jagex payment services director David Parrott.

We’re always examining new and viable ways of widening our payment options, and the excellent services that BitPay and Adyen offer give us the commercial peace of mind to do just that.”
