Justin.tv brand to be retired in favour of Twitch

The company known as Justin.tv has been rebranded as Twitch Interactive.

It comes as Twitch announces that it now boasts over one million active broadcasters and averages over 13 billion minutes watched per month from its 45m viewers.

The Justin.tv brand, from which Twitch was originally a gaming offshoot, will be retained as a mature product of Twitch Interactive”.

20 per cent of Twitch’s broadcasters now do so from PS4. Xbox One support will be arriving later this year.

As Twitch has continued to grow as the leader of the video game streaming space, it has eclipsed our previous initiatives,” Twitch CEO and founder Emmett Shear said.

Given our total focus on serving the gaming community it makes sense to reposition it as our primary brand. Seven years ago, Justin.tv pioneered live video on the web, and while I remain proud of all the work we did under that name, I’m even more excited about our new future as Twitch."
