King chairman Melvyn Morris resigns

The chairman of the company behind Candy Crush Saga has quit the company.

King says that Melvyn Morris, who is its second largest shareholder, has left for personal reasons”, just days after the release of the company’s release of Candy Crush Soda Saga.

Morris has been replaced by board member and former EA exec Gerhard Florin.

"I would like to thank Mel for his leadership and support over many years," King CEO Riccardo Zacconi said. "His belief, energy, experience and insight have helped to make King a successful global business with hundreds of millions of players.

We look forward to his rejoining the Board in due course and we look forward to working with Gerhard in his new role. Gerhard has played an important role during his tenure as a King board member, helping the company to grow into one of the most successful mobile gaming companies."

King’s Q3 profits fell 20 per cent year-on-year. It floated on the stock exchange in March but has since seen shares fall by nearly 20 per cent.
