Layoffs hit Gameloft’s New York office – report

Gameloft is apparently readying to shut down its New York office, as the firm has reportedly laid off as many as 100 employees working at the branch.

Gamasutra cities word from an unnamed source close to the matter, with other reports coming in stating similar info.

When reached for comment by the site, a Gameloft representative avoided directly addressing the potential office closure, instead providing the following:

"Gameloft is actively managing its production organization and is refocusing on its most efficient and experienced creation centers in order to adapt to rapidly changing market conditions and to grow its revenues faster and more profitably."

The rep would not give any further clarification when pressed, and specifically refused to comment on the number of staff affected.
