Logitech snaps up Astro Gaming in $85m deal

Peripheral company Logitech has announced its acquisition of headset and sound outfit Astro Gaming in a deal worth $85m in cash.

While Logitech are known primarily for their PC peripherals, Astro has strong brand awareness in the console space for their headsets, and by acquiring them Logitech has put itself forwards as one of the leaders in computer and console peripherals.

Ujesh Desai, the vice president and general manager of Logitech G,said in a statement: “Astro is the leading player for premium console headsets and is the preferred headset for console esports athletes. It’s a perfect complement to Logitech G’s focus on PC gaming and we couldn’t be more excited; we love the team, the brand and the products.”

Astro Gaming started life as a spin-off from design firm Astro Studios back in 2006, with the San Francisco company’s A40 and A50 headsets quickly becoming synonymous with professional esports events due to the high sound quality and sturdy design.
