Mario Galaxy 2 sparks price battle

It’s got a great chance of being one of the biggest releases on 2010, so perhaps it’s no surprise that two High Street retailers are focusing very heavily on Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy 2 ahead of its UK release on Friday.

HMV is offering the game for just 4.99 for those willing to trade in Super Mario Bros Wii or Mario Kart Wii. The deal is valid between Friday and Sunday this week.

In addition, GAME is offering a bundle including a pre-owned Wii console and copy of the game for just 129.99.

On top of this, the retailer is offering an additional 25 per cent on top of the normal trade-in price on a select number of Wii titles. This means that, for instance, anyone trading in Zelda Twilight Princess and Mario Kart Wii can grab Galaxy 2 for 4.99.

GAME’s deal is valid from tomorrow (June 11th) until next Wednesday (June 16th).

The game is widely available for around 30 online. It’s yet to be seen whether any supermarkets will target the release for aggressive discounting.
