Second annual Cologne event continues growth despite Sega and Capcom setbacks

Gamescom boasts â??more exhibitors than everâ??

Organisers for next week’s Gamescom event in cologne say the event has attracted the most exhibitors yet.

Leipziger Messe says it has attracted 480 exhibitors, a noticeable rise from last year’s figure of 458.

Nearly 220 foreign companies are expected to attend – a 8.3 per cent rise from last year’s figures – all hailing from as many as 33 countries.

Despite the encouraging figures, two leading publishers have decided to stay away from the event this year.

Running from August 18th – 22nd, the second annual Gamescom event will open once again in Cologne.

Next week, Develop and its sister site MCV will have three men on the ground at the key industry event.
