Nokia Snake’s original creator returns with Snake Rewind

The mobile game that started it all is getting a touchscreen makeover from its original creator.

For many 1997’s Snake, which came pre-installed on many Nokia’s in the late ‘90s, was their first taste of gaming on the move.

The Guardian reports that Taneli Armanto, who worked at Nokia for 16 years before leaving in 2011, is now preparing to release a new version, Snake Rewind, on iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

The game dabbles with the original formula with additions such as a Forza-style rewind, boosters and upgradable items. In-app purchases remain a possibility, too.

Snake Rewind will be released on May 14th.
