Short reviews and video pay off for VideoGamer

Videogamer has smashed its traffic records last month thanks to major new editorial changes.

The firm has ditched long reviews, instead focusing on shorter 300-word pieces, alongside in-depth features.

It has also ramped up its video output. Since February, its YouTube subscribers have risen from 4,000 to 71,000.

Return visits have doubled year-on-year, with average time spent on the site increasing by 33 per cent.

And last month it saw 2,015,511 visitors (according to Google Analytics) – its highest ever figure.

MD of parent Pro-G Adam McCann told MCV: With a busy Q4, new consoles, and a few more exciting things this year from us, our team is firing on all cylinders and our hope is to hit another major milestone very soon.”
