Smedley scraps Hero’s Song Kickstarter

Pixelmage Games, the studio headed up by John Smedley, has pulled its Kickstarter campaign for debut title Hero’s Song.

The campaign had only been running for one week and was attempting to raise $800,000. After seven days, 3,037 backers had only managed to pledge $136,849 towards this ambitious target.

We’ve decided that the best thing to do is to end the Kickstarter,” he wrote in anupdate. We sincerely appreciate all of the support we got from the backers and the Kickstarter community. This was our first Kickstarter and we made mistakes along the way."

Work will continue on Hero’s Song thanks to backing from investors, although Smedley stresses that the studio has managed to keep the project on track without having to take money from publishers".
