UK trade body schedules gatherings to ensure tax relief policy benefits games sector

Tiga invites devs to ‘tax break workshops’

UK trade body Tiga has organised a number of meetings, at which it plans to hammer out details of the forthcoming tax breaks with developers.

The ‘workshops’ have been organised in response to the UK Government’s recent launch of a new period of consultation on how the proposed tax breaks for games developers, TV content providers and animators will work.

The Government has welcomed input from the industry, and as such Tiga is planning a collective effort so as to ensure the game’s sectors interests are catered for.

"These workshops are in place to provide you with more information about how the tax break is proposed to work in practice and to ensure that your voice is heard in the consultations about the games tax relief with the UK Coalition Government," read a statement on Tiga’s website.

Tax Breaks for the UK games dev space were announced at the 2012 Budget address, to much jubilation from the industry. however, how the relief will work is yet to be confirmed.

The meetings themselves take place at the following industry hubs.
