Megaupload’s Kim Dotcom makes police brutality claim

The controversial figure behind file-sharing site Megaupload has claimed that he was assaulted by police when he was arrested in January.

Kim Dotcom is currently fighting extradition from New Zealand to the US on piracy related charges.

"And then they were all over me,” he said of the moment when police, at the request of the FBI, gained entry to the safe room in which he was hiding.

I had a punch to the face, boots kicking me down to the floor," Dotcom said in court. I was screaming and I was in pain. I told them there was no need for punching me or hurting me and please stop."

Materials seized during the raid have since been ruled to have been obtained illegally, with a court hearing this week set to decide what will be done with the goods.

Dotcom is currently out on bail.
