Metro 2033 sequel confirmed

THQ is currently working on a sequel to this year’s Metro 2033.

The publisher told CVG that the next game in the franchise – entitled Metro 2034 – will add to its range of games using 3D technology.

We’re showing Metro 2033 in 3D right now, which nVidia is showing as one of their key demo products,” said THQ’s VP of core games Danny Bilson.

We’re going to be doing a 3D version of that on Metro 2034 – the sequel. And there will be some engineering costs there, but that’s in our lowest cost centre in the world. Those games are unbelievably reasonable, they’re built in Kiev.”

Metro 2033 was based on the novel of the same name by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. While Glukhovsky has written a successful Metro 2034 novel, there is no word yet if the game sequel will follow the books or an original storyline.
