Microsoft has an announcement around "Europe’s biggest game franchise" at Gamescom

Microsoft has something interesting to announce about Europe’s biggest game franchise” at Gamescom later this month.

Speaking on Major Nelson’s podcast, Xbox Studios head Phil Spencer divulged details about Microsoft’s presentation at Gamescom.

We took the approach with our showcase that we want to showcase the developers and their games. So we’re going to have a really short stage presentation with some news. [We’ll be] talking about some unique exclusives coming to the platform, [and] we’re going to talk about Europe’s biggest franchise. We have some stuff,” Spencer said.

It’s logical to assume that the franchise Spencer is referring to is FIFA. It is easily the biggest selling franchise in Europe each year.

At the Xbox One reveal in May, EA’s Andrew Wilson announced a broad, strategic relationship with Microsoft, and while not much about that partnership has been divulged since, Wilson did say that it would include exclusive content for FIFA 14 Ultimate Team.

EA hasn’t shown a lot of FIFA 14 for next-gen consoles, and alongside exclusive Ultimate Team content for Xbox One, Microsoft could well announce other exclusive features.

Gamescom kicks off on 21s August, but Microsoft’s showcase takes place a day before that.
