Candy Crush maker closes five games to pursue biggest hits

Online and mobile games company King is to close five of its online titles in order to focus it energy on its most profitable games, including Candy Crush Saga.

The games due to be retired include Bubble Saga, Hoop de Loop Saga, Puzzle Saga, Miner Speed and King Gold Games.

These games will be taken offline on September 10th, according to a spokesperson for the company.

King is believed to be focusing its business in a preparation for an IPO floatation in the coming months. In June, the company removed all in-game advertising from games to help improve the user experience.

The company is report making an estimated £400,000 per day from Candy Crush Saga alone.

A King spokesperson told Develop: “We have reluctantly decided to close some of our smaller games so that we can devote more time and effort to our more popular titles, such as Candy Crush Saga, Farm Heroes Saga and Pet Rescue Saga, and to the development of new games.
