Minecraft sells 1m copies on PS3

Minecraft has already sold 1m copies on PS3, following its launch on PlayStation Network in December.

As part of Mojang’s announcement, the developer/publisher offered that the hot start "has to be some kind of record on PSN." Though that’s not yet official.

The indie hit easily achieved the milestone in what would have typically been adverse circumstances. The version arrived late in the holiday season (a week before Christmas), and long after the game’s release on competing platforms.

The game has now sold at least 34m copies across all platforms – and that number is erring on the extremely conservative side, as the game had sold 33m as of October 2013.

Minecraft is also available on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and Xbox Live. The multi-platform system seller is still in the works for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita as well.
