Publishing giant joins the war for the small screen

Activision launches social games platform

Activision-Blizzard has revealed a new social gaming platform for mobile devices.

The platform, dubbed Activate, puts the worlds biggest publisher alongside Gree and DeNA in the fight for supremacy on smartphones and tablets.

Users will be able to log into mobile games using a Facebook ID or set up their own account with Activate.

According to Inside Mobile Apps, the platform will offer cloud storage so customers can access their games from multiple devices, and also supports multiplayer games.

The possibility of Activision unleashing its arsenal of franchise games on mobile devices is something that should not be taken lightly.

Call of Duty has already hit the mobile sector, and Activision formed The Blast Furnace – its first mobile studio – in August.
