Apple delays white iPhone 4 again

Having claimed last week that the white version of the iPhone 4 would be launched in key territories by the end of this month, Apple has now indefinitely delayed the arrival of the device.

A statement from the firm reads: White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year.

The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”

The delay is yet another piece of bad news for Apple in what has been a very mixed month for the company. Q3 delivered record results for the firm, but at the same time it has had to fend off the world’s media thanks to what Apple CEO Steve Jobs referred to as ‘antennagate’.

Last week Apple said that it would be giving free ‘bumper’ cases to all iPhone 4 users and refunding any cases already purchased by users. While the refunding programme is already underway, there’s no word yet on how Apple intends to let iPhone 4 owners claim their free cases.
