Indie start-up Total ArKade to focus on 'innovative gameplay', says Tony Takoushi

Fruit Ninja dev forms new mobile studio

Former Halfbrick developer Tony Takoushi has founded a new Australia-based mobile studio.

Called Total ArKade Software, the developer is currently working on a new game for iOS, Android and Bada, set to release “shortly”.

Takoushi said he wanted to provide new innovative gameplay with the studio’s debut title, which has yet to be announced.

"I started in the games industry in 1979 and it’s very exciting to be setting up an Indie development team at this time with so many opportunities to innovate and create quality titles in the mobile space,” said Takoushi.

“I want to give players the same gorgeous art, great audio and compulsive gaming they would recognise from Halfbrick productions, along with some very innovative gameplay, as you’ll see in our first title shortly.”

As well as working at Halfbrick Studios on titles such as Fruit Ninja, the industry veteran has also worked at companies such as Sega as European product manager and head of development services at Codemasters.
