Game barcode scanner app launches

Cedemo has launched its Video Game Barcode Scanner app in the US and UK for iPhone and Android smartphones.

The app lets people scan barcodes of console games in-store, to call up descriptions, videos, trailers, screenshots and other information. It launched last month in France.

Cedemo is running a competition to promote the US and UK version, giving away ezVision Video Glasses and games to people who use the app to share details of a scanned game on Facebook.

The company plans to make money from paid-for promotions within the app, but for now there are no price comparison features – unlike apps like ShopSavvy, eBay Mobile or Price Check With Amazon.
