Google acquires Green Throttle Games staff and assets

Google has hired on former staff members and purchased assets from the now defunct Green Throttle Games development studio.

The company confirmed the acquisition to PandoDaily, though declined to go into specifics on the deal.

Green Throttle was founded by Guitar Hero vets Charles Huang, Matt Crowley, and Karl Townsend. The studio was focused on developing an Android-based controller and app – backed by $6m in Series A funding led by Trinity Ventures – but ended up closing in late 2013.

Crowley and Townsend have reportedly joined Google’s team. While it’s unclear what Huang plans moving forward, he still has a founding stake in Blue Goji Corp – an interactive fitness company aiming to gamify individuals’ routines.
