Harmonix announces original Apple TV title Beat Sports

Rock Band creators Harmonix have revealed a brand new game made specifically for the rejuvenated Apple TV.

It’s called Beat Sports. Observers have likened it to a Wii Sports style collection of mini-games, all of which are designed around Apple TV’s new touch and motion controller. Sports include tennis, volleyball, and golf.

"I’m thrilled to announce Beat Sports on this amazing new platform,” Harmonix’s creative lead Jon Carter said. Apple TV is the perfect home for this unique mixture of music, sports, and wacky fun. The new remote offers limitless possibilities for brand-new gameplay, and Beat Sports’ controls will have the whole family swinging, spiking, and scoring to the beat!"

Product manager Matt Boch added: At Harmonix, we have a long history of using new technology to bring innovative musical experiences to living rooms around the world with games like Rock Band.

We immediately saw the potential for new ways to play that the Apple TV opens up, and couldn’t wait to start designing an all-new experience for this exciting new technology. We can’t wait to see how this revolutionary gaming platform changes the entertainment landscape.”
