iOS 4.1 to introduce Game Center

Apple has confirmed that the newly introduced iOS 4.1 will include the long-awaited Game Center.

The online community support platform for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad will allow Apple platform gamers to enjoy similar functionality to that offered to Xbox Live and OpenFeint users.

"Today, we’re introducing iOS 4.1," said Apple boss Steve Jobs, speaking at today’s globally broadcast Apple annoucement event. As confirmed by Jobs, key new features include bug fixes, high dynamic range photos, HD video uploads over Wi-Fi, and the consumer debut of Apple’s Game Center community.
