iOS 4.2 goes live today

Apple has confirmed that its iOS 4.2 software update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is available today.

The update is the first time that iPad has got iOS 4, including multi-tasking, folders, Game Center and a unified email inbox.

Meanwhile, all devices are getting access to new wireless printing and content streaming features in iOS 4.2: AirPrint and AirPlay respectively.

Apple has also made some features of its MobileMe service free for users, including Find My iPhone – allowing people to locate their device when it goes missing.

iTunes TV show rentals are also available on iPad from today, although in the US only.
