iPad tops US Christmas wish lists

Apple has seemingly conquered the hearts and minds of US consumers this Christmas ahead of the games industry.

A new survey by Nielsen found that 44 per cent of kids aged between six and 12 years old put an iPad at the top of their Christmas wish list. That was followed by iPod Touch (30 per cent) and iPhone (27 per cent).

Nintendo’s 3DS was the sixth most sought after device with 25 per cent but was also the highest placed games console. Interestingly, fewer kids wanted a PlayStation Move than a Nintendo Wii, though PS3 won a bigger share than Xbox 360.

It was a slightly different story in the 13 and over category. Apple’s iPad was still the most wanted device, though had a far smaller share with just 24 per cent.

The highest place gaming device was way down at ninth in the list, with Xbox 360 Kinect claiming 12 per cent of the vote. 3DS barely featured in this poll with just five per cent of the vote, behind both the Move and original DS.
