Developer Ustwo reveals high piracy rates on Android compared to iOS

Just 5% of Monument Valley installs on Android paid for

Just five per cent of Monument Valley installs on Android were paid for, Ustwo has revealed.

The developer compared this to iOS, where 40 per cent of installs had been paid for, highlighting a large difference between the two platforms.

The studio admitted a small portion of those 95 per cent of unpaid Android installs were legitimate, but the figures still show how rampant piracy is on Android compared to Apple’s store.

Despite the number of illegal downloads, in November Ustwo announced that Monument Valley had sold 1.4 million copies.
