Neverwinter MMO hits 2m player milestone

Perfect World Entertainment has announced Cryptic Studios’ free-to-play MMO Neverwinter has run past the 2m player mark.

Polygon reports the milestone for the Dungeons & Dragonsonline RPG– which officially launched last month after a long run in beta – is highlighted in a new trailer provided by the publisher.

Expansion content in the form of a free update dubbed ‘Fury of the Feywild’ is already in the works for Neverwinter as well. The add-on brings a new area, a new style of quest structure, and several other features.

‘Fury of the Feywild’ is set to arrive on August 22nd.

On a related note, Perfect World and Cryptic revealed the forming of Cryptic North just last month – a Seattle-based branch created to help on MMO projects Neverwinter, Champions Online and Star Trek Online.

From the looks of it, the new studio’s assistance will be needed to satisfy Neverwinter’s growing player community.
