New Apple processor is ‘most powerful smartphone chip ever’

The new iPhone 7 will mark the debut for a new Apple processor that the firm claims will outperform those of all other smartphone.

The A10 Fusion is a 64-bit processor with four cores, VentureBeat reports. It is 40 percent faster than the iPhone 6S’ A9, and twice as fast as the A8.

During last night’s Apple event in San Francisco, the firm’s SVP of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller claimed this was “the most powerful chip ever in a smartphone”.

The company also demonstrated how the extra processing power can be used to benefit game performances, showcasing the ‘console quality’ graphics of Codemasters’ F1 2016.

Graphically, the A10’s performance is reportedly 50 per cent faster than the A9 and three times faster than the A8.
