World of Tanks firm teams up with Belarus mobile dev Melesta Games

New partnership lets Wargaming ‘experiment with new business models’

Wargaming has entered a new partnership that will enable the firm to expand its presence in mobile and, more intriguingly, experiment with new business models.

The company behind the popular World of Tanks has joined forces with Melesta Games, a Belarus-based mobile developer, in order to support the studio’s projects and share its experience with publishing.

“Partnering with Melesta Games was a natural choice for us,” said Wargaming VP Andrey Yarantsau. “They have an excellent portfolio of mobile titles, a wealth of experienced people, and their close proximity to our Minsk studio will help streamline our work. We all feel very positive about our future co-operation.”

Melesta Games will continue to produce titles in the same vein it has since 2007, namely casual games.

Wargaming made its fortune with free-to-play browser games such as World of Tanks, but like many browser-centric firms is attempting to establish a foothold on mobile.

It has already released a mobile version of its flagship game in the form of World of Tanks: Blitz.
