Nvidia’s Shield successor is a tablet

The next device in the Nvidia Shield range will be a tablet and not a dedicated portable, reports suggest.

The Vergespotted a listing for the Nvidia Shield Tablet on the Global Certification Forum (GCF) website.

Earlier today EA COO Peter Moore said that the portable games sector was moving away from dedicated handhelds and towards smartphones/tablets – this migration from the current Shield’s controller-like design to a tablet form factor chimes perfectly with this.

Presumably Nvidia’s work in creating a library of Android games that are compatible with physical controls will mean that a physical interface or some sort will remain.

Previous leaks point to a Tegra K1 powered device with a 7.9 inch 2048×1536 screen, 2GB of Ram and running Android 4.4 KitKat.
