Scoreloop team becomes part of BlackBerry gaming platform push

RIM acquires mobile dev kit firm Scoreloop

Research In Motion has acquired mobile games development kit producer Scoreloop as part of the former company’s continuing efforts to bring gaming and apps to the BlackBerry BBM social gaming platform.

Scoreloop is the creator of a customisable multi-platform mobile gaming dev tool that RIM VP of global alliances and developer relations Tyler Lessard said displays their “expertise in creating social and collaborative gaming toolkits for mobile developers”.

The company was acquired for an undisclosed sum.

“We’re excited that the Scoreloop team is joining the BlackBerry Developer team,” Lessard added.
