MS announces World Cup goodies

The World Cup kicks off tomorrow, the pain of supporting England begins the day after and to celebrate another year of hurt Microsoft is launching a ‘Summer of Football’ on Xbox Live.

Kicking off tomorrow, a collaboration with Konami is offering officially licensed football kits for avatars. The supported nations are Brazil, The Netherlands, France, Australia, England, Spain, Germany, New Zealand and Italy.

In addition, the Konami Soccer Kit Collection offers a range of extras such as animated balls, banners and hats, all priced between 240 MSP and 320 MSP.

This coming weekend (June 11th-13th) will bring with it free Gold Xbox Live access to all users of the service.

The cost of several football Arcade games will also be lowered on a temporary basis, with savings to be had on titles such as Sensible World of Soccer and FIFA 10’s Ultimate Team DLC.

Free applications such as a tournament predictor tool and a penalty shootout game will also be available on Live for the duration of the tournament. Also expect daily news updates and interviews.
