MW2 becomes UKs second best seller

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has added another notable notch to its bedpost with news that it is now the second best selling game ever in the UK video games market.

In doing so Activision’s title overtakes the total UK lifetime sales of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, arguably cementing the series’ position as the most important IP in the modern video games market.

The only game to have sold more copies is Nintendo’s mass-market DS outing Dr Kawashima’a Brain Training, which was released in June 2006.

Modern Warfare 2 currently sits at number six in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40, four months after it was first released.

MW2 was recently crowned as the third best selling game of all time in the US with sales approaching 10m units in the region.
