[Industry news] Netflix casts new series regulars for live-action Assassin’s Creed adaptation

This is a press release posted in addition to our usual editorial content.

Netflix has confirmed two new series regulars for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, with Zachary Hart and Laura Marcus joining the cast.

Hart, who appears in Slow Horses, has an extensive background across stage and screen and was most recently seen in the Tony-nominated production Stereophonic. Marcus, whose credits include The Serpent Queen, is currently involved in upcoming projects Death By Lightning and Sunrise on the Reaping. They join previously announced cast members Toby Wallace (Euphoria season three, The Bikeriders) and Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing, Trespasses).

Produced in partnership with Ubisoft Film & Television, the series is described as a fast-paced thriller exploring a hidden conflict between two powerful secret organisations. At the heart of the story is the struggle for humanity’s future, with the Templar Order seeking to shape civilisation through control, while the Assassin Brotherhood works to defend free will.

The show is being led by Emmy-nominated writers Roberto Patino (DMZ, Westworld, Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Halo, Homecoming, The Killing), who will serve as creators, showrunners and executive producers. They are joined in the executive producing team by Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill and Genevieve Jones from Ubisoft Film & Television, alongside Matt O’Toole.

The live-action Assassin’s Creed project marks the first in a slate of series planned under Netflix’s agreement with Ubisoft Film & Television for the franchise. Netflix already hosts the animated series Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, which has been well received by audiences.

Further details on the Assassin’s Creed series are expected to be announced at a later date.
