New Torchlight title announced for mobile platforms

Publisher Perfect World has revealed Torchlight Mobile, a new entry in Runic Games’ popular action RPG franchise in the works for mobile platforms.

Between Torchlight and its sequel, the series has seen release on PC, Mac, Linux and Xbox 360 to date – and now Runic and Perfect World are teaming up to bring the dungeon crawler to iOS and Android.

While a release window has yet to be made official, the game is expected to arrive on Apple’s App Store and Google Play by the end of the year.

The original Torchlight launched in 2009 and sold 1m copies in less than two years. Torchlight II launched in 2012, surpassing 2m sales in under a year.
