Next major Borderlands release to skip Xbox 360, PS3

Gearbox’s next major Borderlands release will bypass PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms for their new-gen counterparts, according to publisher 2K.

2K president Karl Slatoff’s statement comes in the wake of yesterday’s Take-Two financial report:

Looking further ahead, we have robust long-term pipeline of titles in development, including ground-breaking new intellectual properties and new releases from our proven franchises,” Slatoff said.

For example, we can confirm that 2K and Gearbox Software will develop an all-new Borderlands game built specifically for next-gen consoles.”

There you have it, you’ll need a PS4 or Xbox One to play what’s presumed to be Borderlands 3. A PC, Mac and Linux release is probable as well – though it wouldn’t be a surprise if those platforms aren’t able to match the game’s console launch date.
