NINTENDO: Mario Sports debuts

The ever-adaptable Mario is to front a brand new Wii sports title called Mario Sports Mix, which is due out in 2011.

Host Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo America, said of the game: You don’t have to be a games expect to understand its potential popularity.” And he’s right – sports games are popular on Wii and Mario remains an engaging brand for consumers.

Few concrete details were released about the game, though a number of sports were shown including volleyball and hockey. All of Nintendo’s recognisable characters were present and correct.
