No More Heroes excels on next-gen

Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the once Wii-only No More Heroes have bettered the week one performance of the original Wii release on their first week of release in Japan.

The numbers back up the notion that mature, violent titles do not sit well with the target demographic of Nintendo’s machine, which has a strong following amongst younger, older and casual gamers.

Siliconera reports that No More Heroes: Heroes’ Paradise, an HD remake of the Wii game, sold 16k copies on PS3 and 15k on Xbox 360 in its first week on sale. In contrast, sales of the Wii version hit 11,700 in its debut week.

The games claimed seventh and eighth spots in Japan’s weekly software chart.

There’s still no UK release date for the game.
